AJE takes part in a business and human rights workshop in Abidjan
From 18 to 20 June 2025, Action for Environmental Justice (AJE) took part in an exchange and training workshop in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The event, organised by the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) in partnership with the Ivorian Human Rights League (LIDHO) and the Ivorian Human Rights Movement (MIDH), focused on the theme: business, human rights and the environment.
Building capacity on today’s challenges
The workshop sessions strengthened understanding of issues relating to business, human rights and the environment, as well as sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and gender mainstreaming. Participants benefited from both theoretical and practical modules.
Tools for documenting violations
The workshop also introduced participants to several tools and techniques for documenting corporate violations and SGBV, including interviewing, power mapping, “Follow the money” techniques and open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools.
A space for mutual learning
Beyond the training, this event was a genuine space for exchange and experience-sharing between FIDH member organisations and their partners, strengthening collaboration and opening new networking prospects.
Towards a mapping of environmental litigation
As part of the duty-of-vigilance procedure, FIDH plans to provide partners with the tools and resources needed to conduct a strategic mapping of environmental litigation.
AJE welcomes this participation, which is part of its ongoing efforts in training, networking and commitment to effective environmental justice and the protection of human rights.
