About us
Action for Environmental Justice
Action pour la Justice Environnementale (AJE) is a national association defending the ecological interests of communities facing environmental harm. As Senegal becomes ever more integrated into the global economy, environmental concerns in the country are growing sharper by the day.
To that end, AJE contributes through environmental education, sustainable ecological initiatives and the fight against environmental inequality. Beyond advocacy and dialogue, AJE actively brings environmental matters before the Senegalese courts.

Conservation and Energy Transition
Raising awareness and taking action to protect natural resources while encouraging a transition towards clean, renewable energy.
Climate and Environmental Litigation
Supporting communities affected by environmental damage by using the law as a lever, and promoting access to environmental justice.
Strategic litigation
Filao belt: the law as a lever
The Supreme Court dismissed AJE’s petition to annul the declassification of part of the filao coastal belt. A ruling that raises concern in light of Senegal’s climate challenges and international commitments — and strengthens our determination to promote access to environmental justice.
